I DID IT! Over 50000 words!

Yes! at 10:20 today I finished my novel "Dreamer" which is a working title. I finished with 50501 words on my open office word processor. Although it was 50375 words on the nanowrimo validator. Either way I won!

Distractions

I can find a billion things I have to do. Anything to keep me from writing. Anything to keep my mind from needing to do what I need to do. Blogging. Dishes. Family needs. Snowflakes. Going for a walk. Making dinner. Watching TV. Anything but working on the 14000 words I still need to write in the next three days.

32000 words!

ok so I didn't write on Sunday. I just could not find the spirit to do it. You just have to have a day off. But I did write over 3000 words today. Which really felt good. so now I have 18000 more to go to win. Can I do it in the next five days? After all, I won't be writing on Sunday the 30th. So I have to be done on Saturday. How may words is that per day? About 4000, just so I can go over the top. That is three or four hours a day of writing, three days before Thanksgiving, kids out of school, Robert still broken up and hobbling, Christmas is coming. How am I going to do this? Only with the help of the good kind Lord.

nanowrimo still going

i was hoping to hit 30000 words today, but no. I didn't quite get 3000 today. I think I am going to write tomorrow, even though it is Sunday, this week is a short week and I have 20500 words left to write. This is such a difficult exercise for me. of course I started fresh with a brand new idea, no snowflake or outline or anything, just a blank sheet of paper so to speak.

NaNoWriMo 15995

I am still a little behind, but not too much. I am going to try to write 5000 words tomorrow. I had YW tonight and so only had a little writing time. Yet I did ok. over three thousand words. My plot is practically nonexistent though, but I can work on that when I finish. It's hard, but I am doing it.

I'm struggling a little, but I can still catch up. I probably won't write much tomorrow because I am going to SLC with my YW.

Problems

Didn't start writing until 8:30 PM, yup, 8:30 PM. so I only got just over 2000 words. Saturday's measly 450 wasn't any help, so I am still behind. But my story is coming together I think and tomorrow is another day and another day to write 5000+ words. All I need is a couple hours and the words need to keep flowing and I'll have it.

NaNoWriMo ~ looks like I'm a turtle right now.

Wordcount at only 450 words. I wasn't feeling good today and I had so much to do so I only got a little bit done. Hopefully this week will be better and I will get some really good time in. It will be easier on a weekday instead of a weekend.

Rabbit or Turtle

With just over three hours to NaNoWriMo, I am wondering whether to start as a rabbit, write fast and take a chance on burnout. Or write like a turtle, slow and steady. I don't write on Sunday, so I only have 26 days to actually get to those 50,000 or more words. That is just under 2000 words a day. I know I can write 2000 words a day no problem. However, can I do it for 26 days? I have tried for the past three years, and not finished. Last year I only got half-way. It is discouraging. I am going to try a lot harder this year. I need to do this for my sanity.

Distractions from NaNoWriMo

Distractions are big, especially during NaNoWriMo.

A great one is http://travians.com

I gotta stay away.

Tomorrow is the day!

Ok so I have started my snowflake, so at least I have the opportunity to be organized. Now if I can only pound out the 50,000 words.

Less than two days!

NaNoWriMo starts at midnight tomorrow. November 1st. Oh my, oh my. I have to begin my character sketches and my snowflake. All I have right now is my first sentence. Yup, that's it.

one week to go

I finally have an idea. Now I need to work my framework. Oh my, this is goingto really be a challenge this year.

fifteen days until NaNoWriMo

Sixteen days to go, still no idea what I am going to write about.
Idea
Plot
Characters
Story

I need them all.

Ideas, where can you get them?

I love to write, but when writer's block hits, it is just hard to think of what to write. So one thing you can do when you have writer's block, is close your eyes, open any book and point to a passage. Then write about it. The one I chose just now was: "Peeking through a crack in the door," What an opening line. Give it a try sometime and see how it can spark your creativity.

What needs to be done

Right now I have to make a plan.
How am I going to write this novel?
What is it going to be about?
What method am I going to use?
What genre will I write?
How will I find the time? Oh my, how will I find the time?
This is absolutely nuts. What am I thinking?
I can do it. Yes I can. I will do it, yes I will.

Countdown to NaNoWriMo

Yes, it is coming, National Novel Writing Month! It is held during the month of November. I am insanely going to try once more to write 50,000 words in 26 days (I rest on Sunday.)

Among a husband with a broken femur who cannot walk yet, four grandchildren that I care for, Christmas gifts to make, and a very demanding church calling, I am going to write. I have new batteries for my old AlphaSmart, and I am going to do it this year.
