Rabbit or Turtle

With just over three hours to NaNoWriMo, I am wondering whether to start as a rabbit, write fast and take a chance on burnout. Or write like a turtle, slow and steady. I don't write on Sunday, so I only have 26 days to actually get to those 50,000 or more words. That is just under 2000 words a day. I know I can write 2000 words a day no problem. However, can I do it for 26 days? I have tried for the past three years, and not finished. Last year I only got half-way. It is discouraging. I am going to try a lot harder this year. I need to do this for my sanity.

Distractions from NaNoWriMo

Distractions are big, especially during NaNoWriMo.

A great one is http://travians.com

I gotta stay away.

Tomorrow is the day!

Ok so I have started my snowflake, so at least I have the opportunity to be organized. Now if I can only pound out the 50,000 words.

Less than two days!

NaNoWriMo starts at midnight tomorrow. November 1st. Oh my, oh my. I have to begin my character sketches and my snowflake. All I have right now is my first sentence. Yup, that's it.

Writing is easy; all you do is sit staring at a blank sheet of paper until the drops of blood form on your forehead.

fifteen days until NaNoWriMo

Sixteen days to go, still no idea what I am going to write about.
Idea
Plot
Characters
Story

I need them all.

Ideas, where can you get them?

I love to write, but when writer's block hits, it is just hard to think of what to write. So one thing you can do when you have writer's block, is close your eyes, open any book and point to a passage. Then write about it. The one I chose just now was: "Peeking through a crack in the door," What an opening line. Give it a try sometime and see how it can spark your creativity.

What needs to be done

Right now I have to make a plan.
How am I going to write this novel?
What is it going to be about?
What method am I going to use?
What genre will I write?
How will I find the time? Oh my, how will I find the time?
This is absolutely nuts. What am I thinking?
I can do it. Yes I can. I will do it, yes I will.

Countdown to NaNoWriMo

Yes, it is coming, National Novel Writing Month! It is held during the month of November. I am insanely going to try once more to write 50,000 words in 26 days (I rest on Sunday.)

Among a husband with a broken femur who cannot walk yet, four grandchildren that I care for, Christmas gifts to make, and a very demanding church calling, I am going to write. I have new batteries for my old AlphaSmart, and I am going to do it this year.
